Following on from the success of our Taste Me Mama packaging, we won a pitch to work with another ambitious startup: this time for a range of nut butter spreads aimed primarily at children.
Handmade by two mums who – having searched for a healthy alternative to the mass produced nut butters on the market and found none – decided to create their own. Their homemade creations were such a hit with their daughters that they decided to spread the joy further and produce a range of nut butters that other parents could give to their very own cheeky monkeys!
In the current landscape of the overly crowded nut butter market, specifically targeting the children’s sector (as yet, relatively untapped), would appear to be a good strategy. Our challenge was therefore clear. Produce a brand that would visually appeal to parents and children alike.
To help justify the range’s premium price point, our strategy was to create packaging that, on the one hand, delivered a reassuringly premium feel for parents whilst, on the other, incorporated child-based cues that youngsters could relate to and enjoy.
Touches like the foiled finish of the flavour descriptor and brand story gave the labels enhanced shelf presence and all-important stand out. And a different nut-based character for each SKU gave the range an endearing quality that turned it into a collectable ‘family’ of products. The characters also provided an adaptable element that could be used creatively across other touchpoints to help promote the range.
